Patti Fund - Reaching out to Children with Cancer

Patti Fund...Sharing and Caring for Children with Cancer
The Patti Fund,/Care for Childhood Cancer is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the quality of life and provision of care for children and adolescents with cancer. Cancer is a disease that can destroy young lives and devastate families indiscriminately. This was certainly true for Patti, an extraordinary eleven-year-old girl whose gentle spirit touched the hearts of everyone who met her. Shortly after Patty lost a long, hard-fought battle with leukenia, the Patti Fund, Inc. was created as a lasting tribute to honor her cherished memory.

Mission Statement: Advances in medical treatments and technologies have significantly increased the survival rate of children and adolescents with cancer. Children are living longer with the disease and many parents have a renewed sense of hope. Parents and health care agencies, however, are struggling with increased medical expenses and skyrocketing insurance costs which may impede efforts to successfully care for these children.

Since its inception in June 1987, the Patti Fund, Inc. has distributed over a half million dollars to parents, families, hospitals and children's organizations in the
New York metropolitan area. Assistance is offered to families to underwrite medicines, travel expenses, special foods, prosthetics, wigs, home medical devices,
and other special needs of their children.

We make special grants to pediatric oncology centers for equipment and supplies which are not covered in the organization's annual operating budget.

We provide in-kind donations, including televisions for children's hospital rooms and treatment areas, VCR's, video libraries and games. We sponsor artists to transform bleak treatment areas into wondrous new worlds. Daybeds that double as reclining chairs are donated to hospitals so parents may retain some level of comfort when they remain at their child's bedside at all hours of the day or night.

For children in the hospital, the holiday season can often bring feelings of isolation and sadness. We host holiday parties for children and adolescents in
residence at the hospital that feature a bounty of age-appropriate gifts for children, food and entertainment such as face-painting, caroling and a surprise visit from Santa Claus. Parents, friends and other family members are always invited and encouraged to attend.

When patients receive chemotherapy treatments, hair loss is quite common. The Patti Fund, Inc. designs and distributes a wide selection of hats that encompass
the latest styles of sports, animation and children's interests. The hats are provided to hospital staff at no cost, and we fill special orders for children whenever
requested.

Full Description: The Patti Fund,/Care for Childhood Cancer is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the quality of life and provision of care for children and
adolescents with cancer.

Cancer is a disease that can destroy young lives and devastate families indiscriminately. This was certainly true for Patti, an extraordinary eleven-year-old girl whose gentle spirit touched the hearts of everyone who met her. Shortly after Patty lost a long, hard-fought battle with leukemia, the Patti Fund, Inc. was created
as a lasting tribute to honor her cherished memory.

The mission of the Patty Fund, Inc. is to ensure that all children with cancer receive the finest medical and support services available and that families are
assisted with the financial burden of their child's care. There is no fixed application criteria - the Fund responds to the individual needs of each child and family.
We work closely with metropolitan pediatric oncology centers to underwrite the cost of health-related equipment, supplies and other specialized medical services designed to make a child's stay in the hospital as beneficial and pleasant as possible.

The Patti Fund, Inc. has no employees on salary or general operating expenses, excluding promotional materials. The Fund consists of a dedicated group of
volunteers who assemble to raise funds to children in need. All donations are tax-deductible and 100% of all monies raised is used to benefit children.
Insider Tips: Annual Fund Raising

The Patti Fund, Inc. sponsors amateur boxing fund raising events in concert with the United States Amateur Boxing Association. Other annual events include our famous "Jail and Bail" fund raiser, Annual Golf Classic, 50's Dance, Halloween Costume Ball and Italian Night.

Our July 4th Block Party, simulcast live, is our calling card for fun and entertainment. People from all over New York come to this event which coincides with Macy's spectacular fireworks display. Attendance has swelled to over 7,000 each year as more people are eager to help children with cancer and secure a prime
waterfront view for the show.

The Patti Fund, Inc. receives a generous outpouring of financial support from numerous businesses and corporations to sponsor our special events. A host of
individuals generously respond to our annual mailing with a final year-end gift to help children less fortunate. We receive contributions throughout the year from other people, made in memory of a loved one or in honor of a friend or colleague. All gifts are acknowledged by mail, and family and friends receive notification of the donor's thoughtful gesture.
